“If you were all alone in the universe with no one to talk to, no one with which to share the beauty of the stars, to laugh with, to touch, what would be your purpose in life? It is other life, it is love, which gives your life meaning. This is harmony. We must discover the joy of each other, the joy of challenge, the joy of growth.” — Mitsugi Saotome

see food diet

it turns out that D18 has recently GONE VEGGIE.
What do you mean he don't eat no meat?
Oh, that's okay. I make lamb.
(guess the movie line)

alas and alack, that means:
no pork
no lamb
no beef
no tshicken (sic)
no fish
... a veritable VEGETABLE-arian then???
I'm a vegetable-arian too. (guess the other movie line)

enter pumpkin soup, pumpkin and fetta frittata, pasta and sauce,
rainbow veggie soup, felafels and salady-bits in pita breads, olives cheeses and a broken piggy bank crostini, a BIG SCRATCH OF KATIE'S HEAD AND A DESPERATE BEG TO THE BIG WIDE WORLD FOR 3 WEEKS OF veggie RECIPES/IDEAS...

well actually, upon clarification, D18's decided that he won't eat things that have a brain. aha, he makes his own rules then, just like me.

enter Green Lipped Mussels:
enter the resident muscles
and a prize for the best Frank Spencer facials.
enter a swish of this, a tin or two of that, and a teaspoon of this:
a little reduction, add the scrubbed brainless mussels.
whang on the lid, boil to death for 8 minutes.
ohhh la la, a veritable "vegetable-arian" feast.

I always pitied the vegetarians at D18's residential establishment when I lived there - all egg'n'cheese. I'd grab Alison Holst's Meals without Meat or The Moosewood Cookbook for some inspiration.

ooh lala, looks very artsy
(i would say delicious but i hate seafood - can still appreciate the artsiness though ;) )
i love me some crustless quiche with a lil bit of everything tossed in - meals without meat is great, i use the mac n cheese recipe out of there, but that's not very exotic or artsy now is it ;)

One of our favourite meals is Jamie's Spagetti with Cherry tomatoes, Olives & Chilli. cook spagetti (needs to be dried not fresh) in a wok/pan throw in some olive oil (lots) garlic & chilli flakes and heat then throw in the squashed up tomatoes and olives (use the back of a knife to much them so that they aren't pulp just a bit mushed) cook for a few minutes and then throw in your spagetti and toss around - coating the pasta in the yummy chilli & garlic infused oil. Delish!! Olives and tomatoes were dead cheap in London - about 89p for a punnet of toms and 50p for a jar of (VERY YUMMY SPANISH) olives so it was our budget dinner that we had pretty much every week and still really love!
