kate5kiwis: teen spirit

“If you were all alone in the universe with no one to talk to, no one with which to share the beauty of the stars, to laugh with, to touch, what would be your purpose in life? It is other life, it is love, which gives your life meaning. This is harmony. We must discover the joy of each other, the joy of challenge, the joy of growth.” — Mitsugi Saotome

teen spirit

The boy is back in town again and the roof is lifting off:
With the lights out it's less dangerous
Here we are now
Entertain us
I guess it makes me smile
And for this gift I feel blessed
Our little group has always been
And always will until the end

Smells like ... The Boy's home?

No, that's not right!

Enjoy the family-togetherness energy! What's cooking for the boy's return? (His favorite dishes, I mean. :)

Oh have a wonderful time. My sons are always really excited when their sister comes home. Can't imagine what it will be like in October when she comes home after a year away - she;ll be battered and bruised by boys jumping on her.

It's great to have a huge age range in the family don't you think. I think yours is similar to mine (mine is 6-19).

Smells like ...
yippee!!! your teens love Nirvana too? or are they your faves? i've been reading Anthony Kiedis's (from Red Hot Chili Peppers) autobiography Scar Tissue and he was friends with Kurt Cobain, among other famous musos/artists/actors/models. AK describes people in a wonderfully alive way.

What's cooking for the boy's return?
D18 has recently GONE VEGETARIAN!!!!!
*boggle!!!*
so the usual roast lamb and all the trimmings won't cut the mustard. i made Satiny Sunshine Pumpkin Soup last night, the only peeps who ate it were me and D18, R15, S10. Bulldog dashed up the road for pizzas. sheesh.
*ack!!!*
*katie panics and dashes to library for delish recipe books*
any ideas? methinks i need to ask Hay.

oh thanks so much!! yeah, know what ya mean about battered and bruised lol.
D18 is quite the celebrity in these here parts!!
and yes, it often surprises me just how well all our kiddos get on. there's no such thing as age barriers between them, it's all about personalities/interests. they all share something with each other: music, movies, wrestling matches, rugby, jokes...
i really love that.

If you need recipes, I can send you a file of our favourites. A pumpkin quiche.. I mean lidless pie... which is YUM! James doesn't really like meat so we eat about half vegetarian. Wonderful to have everyone home eh?

Meredith and Owen are Nirvana fans. Jesse -- quiet Jesse -- is more into heavy metal. Mer has several books on Kurt Cobain -- the biographies, the journals. I think that she was digging them out for Owen recently. (Thanks, Mer -- he's 14!!)

Is The Vegetarian avoiding gluten or can you make vegetarian pizzas? I know I've read you making doughs and pizzas before! I'm up at 5:00AM on a Saturday morning. can't sleep. I wish I had a pizza ...
