kate5kiwis: On the Ninth Day of Christmas

kate5kiwis

“If you were all alone in the universe with no one to talk to, no one with which to share the beauty of the stars, to laugh with, to touch, what would be your purpose in life? It is other life, it is love, which gives your life meaning. This is harmony. We must discover the joy of each other, the joy of challenge, the joy of growth.” — Mitsugi Saotome

On the Ninth Day of Christmas

(oh land sakes - which gung-ho-grammarian took the "e" out of "ninth"?)

we ate strawberries and cupcakes and drank bubbly
and revamped our christmas wreaths
yep - mine is an incredibly sexy combo of red berries, floaty feathers and snow flowers! very country kitsch Christmas In Narnia.

and The Girlies started hatching a plan for a *Kiwi Chicks Road Trip To Coromandel (In The VW Combi With Pomegranates)* - so - whatcha doin' in February? wanna come along? it'll be the last *funshine escape* before Katie's Serious Essay Writing ensues.

I still have nightmares about a school trip to Coromandel that I went on when I was young. Windy roads, bus, lots of vomitting. *sob* I'm reliving it all.....argh!

oh! how awful - we last travelled the coro roads in the summer sunshine - loved the beach views all the way.
but i am wondering whether coro is jinxed then - we got a hideous spew bug that lasted three days before it went through everyone - thankfully i took the wet wipes camping that year - yeah, such a girl scout.

You bet! I'll just swim over! :)

I like a pine wreath in the winter 'cause it smells so Christmas-sy.

It's twelfth that gets me. Surely there shouldn't be an "f" in that - it just can't be right.

Beautiful wreath.

I'll be in your neck of the woods in Feb - well vaguely - but I can't see it happening somehow. Shame as I'm sure it would be fun.

Love the gingerbread house header!

I'm still waiting for Some kind of Christmas anticipation to kick my butt into gear. So far we have:

No gingerbread house
No christmas cookies
No tree
No wreath

Hmm. I did break down and play the Christmas radio station the other day, blasting out "Dominic the Donkey" for Owen and his friends, who now think I'm a loon. :)

And the trips to the Goodwill store and the shelter with warm coats and clothes and good toys and games the kids here have outgrown felt the most Christmassy of anything so far.

ah yes - "twelfth" - egads! need to sneak Eats, Shoots and Leaves back to the library.

ha! maybe there could be a ditch-crossing in order next feb? (the "ditch" is the commonly-referred-to short space of sea between Oz and NZ)
we will have to bribe Hay to get in her car too lol.

you and i are on the same wavelength - giving things away is my survival kit during the pre-christmas nuttiness.

am off in search of "Dominic the Donkey" - i am sure it will at least beat Kylie Minogue's "Santa Baby" - that song makes me want to ball it all up in my fist and throw it.

anyway, i know i'm tree-ing and gingy-house-ing and wreath-ing nad reindeer-ing but we all know it's not about that - it's about spreading a little more LOVE JOY AND PEACE baby - it's about Christmas being in our hearts.
and it's definitely in yours.
